Forbes is accepting candidate submissions for Top AI Lawyers list


Nominations have opened for Forbes’ inaugural America’s Top AI Lawyers list, which will highlight the country’s premier practitioners in the artificial intelligence space.

Attorneys who make the cut will have impressive track records across the transactional, litigation or consulting and advocacy spectrum. These are lawyers who are sought out by clients and recognized as thought leaders, with deep experience and expertise in the artificial intelligence field.

As with all Forbes Top Lawyers lists, our editorial team utilizes independent research, the nomination process, and a rigorous scoring methodology to identify, vet and select candidates.

All Forbes lists are entirely merit-based, and there is no fee to participate.

Our team may submit requests for additional information to candidates who move forward in the process or to listed references.

Q: What is the submission deadline?

A: Nominations must be submitted through our website by Sept. 25, 2026.

Q: Are self-nominations permitted?

A: Yes, self-nominations are permitted.

Q: Should attorneys who were recognized on prior Forbes Top Lawyers lists be resubmitted, or are they automatically reconsidered?

A: Previous honorees and nominees are eligible for consideration, but should be nominated again for this list. There is no automatic reconsideration process.

Q: Are non-U.S. Attorneys eligible for nomination?

A: Submissions are limited to U.S. based attorneys only.

Q: How are candidates selected for the recognition?

A: Candidates are identified through independent editorial research as well as an open nomination process. All lawyers are vetted and curated through a proprietary scoring methodology.

Q: Is there a fee to participate?

A: There is no fee to nominate, participate or be honored on any Forbes list.

Q: Is there a limit on how many lawyers a firm or agency submits?

A: We are looking for the superstars, and will accept no more than five submissions per firm or agency.

Q: Are the references for the nomination contacted for all applicants?

A: References will only be contacted if the candidate advances in the process and we are in need of additional information to make a final determination. Nominees will be notified before we contact any submitted references.

Q: Will all information submitted be considered on the record? Or is it for research purposes only?

A: The expectation is that details provided on the nomination form could be included in any reporting. However, any information on the application that is marked confidential will be treated as confidential.

Q: Will final honorees be contacted ahead of publication?

A: Honorees will be contacted in advance of publication, but any announcement of their appearance on the list is embargoed.

Q: If selected for the list how do I add more to my profile?
