The Pennsylvania Department of Health asked the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for emergency aid in dealing with the state’s ongoing measles outbreak, but only if the federal agency recognizes four deaths in the state associated with the disease, Reuters reported, weeks after Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. reportedly asked the agency not to list the first two deaths in the national count for the disease.
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and state health authorities have previously clashed with HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. over the deaths associated with measles in the state.
