What fans can expect from Post Malone’s next album is unclear. Throughout his decade or so as a superstar, the musician has tried his hand at many genres and has yet to fail. He first found fame as a hip-hop act and then moved into a more top 40 pop sound. Later, Malone tried rock music, and then most recently country with his first set in that style, the successful F-1 Trillion.
Malone has been hard at work on a new release, but how it will be classified is yet to be seen – or heard. Recently, Malone reissued his early-career mixtape August 26, which dropped shortly before he became a household name. The singer-songwriter and rapper made the set widely available to celebrate its tenth anniversary, and August 26 also became available on vinyl for the first time.
This week, the project debuts on multiple Billboard charts, earning the superstar yet another smash.
Post Malone’s August 26 Debuts on Four Charts
August 26 debuts on four Billboard rankings this week. The mixtape opens at Nos. 18, 33, 41 and 135 on the Vinyl Albums, Top Album Sales, Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts and the Billboard 200, respectively.
Post Malone Scores His Sixth R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Hit
Somewhat surprisingly, Malone has racked up the fewest wins among that quartet of rosters on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. As August 26 debuts, the superstar is now up to half a dozen appearances on the genre-specific ranking.
Sadly, August 26 is easily his worst performer and his first release to miss not only the top 10, but the top two on the genre-focused roster. Stoney, Beerbongs & Bentleys, Hollywood’s Bleeding and Twelve Carat Toothache all took turns ruling for multiple frames. The Diamond Collection, his greatest hits compilation, stalled at No. 2 two years ago. August 26 barely makes it onto the 50-space ranking at No. 41.
Post Malone Lands an Eighth Vinyl Albums Hit
The Grammy nominee is now up to eight career appearances on the Vinyl Albums chart, and August 26 is not his lowest-peaking set. That distinction belongs to The Diamond Collection, which spent one week at No. 22 after debuting in that position in December 2023.
August 26 is still a rare miss inside the top 10 for Malone. His other six releases to reach the vinyl-focused tally have all broken into that important tier.
August 26 Brings Post Malone to a New Billboard 200 Low
As August 26 debuts, Malone scores his ninth hit on both the Top Album Sales chart and the Billboard 200. The former focuses specifically on purchases of full-length projects, while the Billboard 200 ranks the most-consumed albums and EPs in the United States using both sales and streaming activity.

At No. 33, August 26 becomes Malone’s second-lowest-charting release on the Top Album Sales tally. It beats The Diamond Collection by only a few spaces.
The mixtape does bring Malone to a new career low on the Billboard 200. August 26 debuts at No. 135, making it one of only two collections by the star to completely miss the upper half of the 200-space roster. Tribute to Nirvana opened at No. 106 last April and then vanished, though it was only available for a limited time.
Post Malone Scores a New R&B Hit Song
One track featured on August 26 becomes a hit as well, and it nearly breaks into the top 10 as it arrives. “Fuck,” Malone’s collaboration with Jeremih, debuts at No. 11 on the Hot R&B Songs chart.
The track becomes one of only seven tunes by Malone to reach the roster and his first new appearance on the list since November 2022. “Fuck” is also his second-lowest-peaking win on the Hot R&B Songs chart and one of only two to miss the top 10.
“Cooped Up/Return of the Mack,” a remix and mashup hybrid that also credits Mark Morrison and producer Sickick, only rose as high as No. 14. Several other Malone tunes, including collaborations with Swae Lee and Justin Bieber, have all surged into the ranking’s most competitive tier.
