Key Facts
Six of Trump’s Sunday afternoon posts including pictures of the Kennedy Center’s apparently deteriorating interior—which he called “crumbling,” “dilapidated” and “grotesque”—as well as sharp words for Christopher Cooper, the federal district judge who ordered his name removed from the venue.
“The Kennedy Center is crumbling, and a great danger to anyone who walks inside,” Trump said in one post, claiming it will “only get worse unless the Radical Left Judge, with his Trump Hating lawyer wife, allows me to do what must be done!”—an apparent reference to the Kennedy Center’s latest attempt to place Trump’s name on the venue, which Cooper blocked.
He also posted a handful of Greenland memes, one of which shows a large Trump looming over a mountain, while the other shows Trump looking at a group of penguins (which do not live in Greenland) holding American flags.
Several of Trump’s posts were pictures of himself with Chinese President Xi Jinping, whom he hosted last month, calling him a “Great Leader” in one post, while another post brags that “President Trump gets YOUNGER.”
Other posts took digs at the media (dubbed “artificial news”), former President Barack Obama and protesters who oppose his planned arch in Washington, D.C. (“Do these people not have jobs?” the post says).
Trump Posts About “Super Intelligence”
Trump also posted a screenshot of a post billionaire Elon Musk made on X earlier in the day, in which he said “No more AI,” calling Trump’s preferred “SI” acronym “better.” Trump also posted a black-and-white photo of himself, captioned, “Super Intelligence.” The president has pushed for artificial intelligence to be renamed super intelligence, and last week, he signed an executive order directing federal agencies and departments to only use the “SI” moniker in official communications moving forward. Musk backed Trump’s SI push early Sunday, saying he would rename his SpaceXAI company to “SpaceXSI.” “SpaceX is a super intelligence company,” Musk said in another post early Sunday. As of Sunday afternoon, the SpaceXAI website and social media accounts have not yet changed their name, and Musk has not outlined a timeline for when it will adopt the “SI” branding. In a Truth Social post Sunday morning, Trump announced the formation of the “Super Intelligence Force,” led by a handful of administration officials, who he said will be “tasked with coordinating the effort of the Federal Government to ensure that America continues to lead the World in Super Intelligence.”
tangent
The Greenland posts come weeks after Trump, who long voiced a desire to annex the territory, struck a deal that would allow for more U.S. military bases in Greenland, but stopped well short of ceding any significant chunk of land to the United States. Trump, though, said the deal was “tremendous for Europe and for the United States and for everybody.”
key background
Trump has long been fiercely critical of Cooper, the judge who in May ruled the Kennedy Center’s board cannot unilaterally rename the venue the “Trump-Kennedy Center,” saying it requires congressional approval and violates the law that designates the institution as a memorial to former President John F. Kennedy. After Cooper’s initial May ruling, Trump lashed out in a lengthy post, calling Cooper a “Barack Hussein Obama Judge” while also targeting his wife, Amy Jeffress, who works as an attorney for former President Joe Biden.
