At WWE Money in the Bank 2026, six elite singles stars in the stacked men’s division competed for a chance to win the coveted briefcase and the guaranteed title shot that comes along with it.
In the weeks leading up to Money in the Bank, a series of qualifying matches established a star-studded field. Two of those stars, CM Punk and Kevin Owens, had previously won a world championship, but the other four had yet to win a world title on WWE’s main roster: Bron Breakker, Je’Von Evans, Penta and Trick Williams.
With Owens and Punk already involved in SmackDown’s WWE Championship scene, Money in the Bank presented WWE with a major opportunity to elevate a new star with a career-defining victory.

WWE Money In The Bank 2026 Results: What’s Next For Penta And Bron Breakker?
The feud between Punk and Owens is far from over. If anything, after what transpired at Money in the Bank, the two heated rivals are going to continue to be at odds with one another on SmackDown.
One of the reasons why neither Punk nor Owens needed a MITB win is that they’re already key players in the WWE Championship scene due to their recent interactions and histories with current champion Sami Zayn. With Zayn still holding that title, Punk and Owens likely are going to remain rivals of his without needing that MITB briefcase.
That’s why this year’s MITB match really seemed to be a two-man race between Penta and Breakker. Williams is the United States Champion and not really pushed at that level just yet while the same is true of Evans, who is a likable babyface but still far away from being a main eventer, though he did take one step closer after an unforgettable Money in the Bank performance.
WWE couldn’t have gone wrong with Breakker or Penta, but in the end, the creative team went with Penta for the win and Breakker for the standout performance. That jives with reports that Penta is now viewed as a main eventer and in line for a major push after his stellar World Heavyweight Championship bout with Roman Reigns.
WWE must strike while the iron is hot, and the company has unfortunately missed that opportunity on more than one occasion with Breakker. Might that change now?
After WWE Money in the Bank, Breakker now looks like a massive star after an incredible performance while Penta may have solidified himself as a future world champion. That’s a win-win for WWE, which may now have two new main eventers in the making.
