The card for WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta is almost filled and despite the fact that there are no championship matches scheduled yet, we still seemingly have our main event in place. Cody Rhodes will take on Randy Orton in a match that seems like it should be for a title. Let’s talk wrestling.
WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event Key Facts

| Venue | State Farm Arena, Atlanta, Georgia |
| Start time | 8 p.m. ET, 7 p.m. CT, 5 p.m. PT |
| How to watch, US | Peacock, exclusively |
| Matches announced | Three |
| Main event | Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton |

| Celebrity bout | Baron Corbin vs. Lil Yachty |
| The stipulation | If Yachty lasts five minutes, Corbin grants Trick Williams a United States Championship rematch that night |
| Championship matches | None booked outright |
Three matches are announced, which is why this reads as a card update rather than a final card. Corbin holds the United States Championship, and WWE’s booking is that Trick Williams only gets a rematch that night if Yachty survives five minutes. That conditional bout is the only championship stake on the show so far, and Rhodes and Orton is a rematch of a WrestleMania 42 match Rhodes won.
I’m interested to see how much Lil Yachty has picked up during his time training at the Performance Center. Anyone expecting a performance on par with what we’ve seen from Logan Paul or even iShowSpeed and Stephen Amel will likely be disappointed. That said, celebrities in this era of WWE seem to be willing to devote more time to ensure they actually deliver fun matches. The five-minute survival stipulation only makes things more interesting.
Because the title match with Trick has been mentioned, it’s almost certain to happen and it would be a shock if he didn’t regain his title. Expect one more match to be added to push the card to five matches.

Matches as announced by WWE.
| Match | Stipulation | Title |
|---|---|---|
| Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton | None | None |
| Bron Breakker vs. Oba Femi | None | None |
| Baron Corbin vs. Lil Yachty | Yachty must last five minutes | None directly |
| Baron Corbin vs. Trick Williams | Only if Yachty survives | United States Championship |
Because there’s currently no scheduled women’s match for the card, I’d suspect that’s what we’ll see added as early as Friday on Smackdown. That could also give us a pure championship match.
Bron Breakker vs. Oba Femi and Orton-Rhodes feel like title matches. It’s odd to see Breakker clashing with Femi at this stage in both men’s careers, but it’ll be interesting to see how that one is booked.
As for Orton-Rhodes, I’ll never not feel as though Orton should have been the guy who dethroned Rhodes. As it is, perhaps the two legends can create something memorable in the ATL.
