The Cleveland Guardians have an excellent chance of winning the 2026 World Series.
If they advance to play in the Fall Classic, they have the roster, and manager to win the Championship.
The Guardians haven’t won a World Series since 1948.
By winning the American League Central Division, the Guardians will play the Chicago White Sox , who swept the Houston Astros in the American League Wild Card Series.
mlb.com/postseason states the Guardians Division Series is scheduled to begin Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
The best-of-five Division Series schedule includes two home games at Progressive Field, an off day, two games at Chicago, an off day, and a fifth and deciding game back at Cleveland’s Progressive Field.
If they win the Division Series, the Guardians will enter the best-of-seven American League Championship Series, which begins Monday, October 12.
Game 1 of the World Series will begin Friday, October 23.

cbssports.com lists three factors in the Guardians favor:
1- The bullpen is among baseball’s best
True. Cade Smith is a tremendous closer. Their high-leverage relievers have been effective. Only Hunter Gaddis has shown some hiccups.
2- They have a strong rotation front
True. Parker Messick, Gavin Williams, and Joey Cantillo (who may enter the game in the 2nd inning) form a reliable trio at the front of the rotation. Tanner Bibee has yielded too many home runs, but when he’s on, he can be effective. Newcomer Foster Griffin has been a solid, left-handed starter.
3- The AL bracket is wide open
True. There isn’t a juggernaut in the American League. Nothing like the Dodgers in the National League.
This old scout agrees with all those three factors.
But there are more:
-The Guardians have extensive playoff experience.
-As baseballreference.com notes, Cleveland has been in the playoffs two of the past three years. Experience matters.

-The Guardians have been given a huge lift from savvy player acquisitions, including:
Right-handed hitting Joe Adell, who has added power and depth from the right side of the plate.
Left-handed hitting Nathaniel Lowe, who adds a power bat from the left side, and excellent defense at first base.
Switch-hitting catcher Patrick Bailey, who has been tremendous on defense, and has added some huge offense to the roster.
Left-handed starter Foster Griffin, who has added a much needed arm to the starting rotation.
-Guardians Rookie second baseman Travis Bazzana has flashed an impactful bat against right-handed pitching.
-The Guardians feature a bench that includes outfielder Petey Halpin, utility guru Daniel Schneemann, outfielder Angel Martinez, infielder Angel Genao, utility player David Fry, and catcher Austin Hedges. They offer manager Stephen Vogt versatility, depth, and experience off the bench.
-Guardians Manager Stephen Vogt has been there, and done that. He has won two consecutive Manager of the Year Awards. He has learned from playoff mistakes. He is more self-confident than ever. And he knows every nuance of every player on his team.

Cleveland Guardians Issues Entering the Postseason:
1- Team spark plug, All Star Jose Ramirez is still feeling the impact of a broken hamate bone.
He has had trouble driving the ball. But Ramirez can emerge at any at-bat, in any game, and at any time, to be the game-changing force he has been for years.
“Josie” can put the team on his back and carry them all the way.
2- Changeups trouble Guardians hitters. Pitchers with superb changeups have gotten the best of almost every Guardian hitter for the past few years.
3- Outfielder Chase DeLauter is a terrific hitter, but he must avoid nagging injuries. If his wrist isn’t barking, if his legs are strong, and if he doesn’t face minor issues that keep him from being 100%, he can change a game with one swing of the bat. His health is an issue.

Angel Martinez has shown power to break up games.
Shortstop Brayan Rocchio has a knack for the big hit at the right time.
Yes, the Cleveland Guardians can win the World Series.
