WBC super featherweight champion O’Shaquie Foster has one of the most inspiring stories of any world champion in boxing today. He has dared to dream big despite having to overcome several impediments. Foster shot for the moon when he called out Shakur Stevenson following a majority decision win over Shakur’s close friend Ray Ford.

Stevenson had time for a face-to-face in-ring argument, but he wouldn’t grant Foster the fight he wanted. It wasn’t a duck as much as it was an example of a fighter looking to elevate his status, not willing to fight a challenger who he doesn’t stand to gain anything from beating.

Foster’s May 30 win over Ford at the Fertitta Center in Houston came by majority decision. One judge scored it a 114-114 draw, while the other two had it 118-110 and 116-112 for Foster.

The winner of this fight will be in position to call themselves the king of the 130-pounders and will likely assume the mantle as The Ring Magazine champ. Navarrete currently holds the WBO and IBF titles. Because of the stakes and the talent level of the two fighters, this fight should be getting more attention. Stylistically, it also has potential to be one of the better scraps of 2026.
