FC Barcelona forward Raphinha has completed tests at the club’s Joan Gamper CT on Friday after returning early from Brazil national team duty.

After playing 96 minutes in the first friendly against Australia, a 2-2 draw, Raphinha was sent back to Catalunya after going off at half time in the second, which ended up being a 4-2 win for the Selecao in Brisbane.

Raphinha told a reporter at the SunCorp Stadium that he was alright, but you still couldn’t blame Culers for fearing the worst after three similar injuries caused him to miss chunks of the 2025/2026 season including both games of an aggregate Champions League quarterfinal defeat to Atletico Madrid.

Arriving in Barcelona on Thursday after completing the 24-hour trip from Down Under, Raphinha arrived at the Joan Gamper CT at around 11AM local time before then leaving at 12:30 in his own car.

Reports from Mundo Deportivo and MARCA then communicated that the Brazilian is fine, and that the discomfort in his right thigh, which has troubled him so much in recent history, is fine.

Earlier this morning, it was also explained that Barca’s medical directors wished to talk to Raphinha and get to the bottom of why he often comes back from the Brazil national team injured – whether it be something related to training or warm up methods.

We can’t confirm if that was discussed. But with his medical clearance in mind, the 29-year-old will be available for a Spotify Camp Nou hosting of Getafe on October 10.

FC Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick now needs to make a big decision

On Thursday, it was reported that Hansi Flick had learned his lesson from overusing Raphinha and to this end was preparing a replacement for Getafe.

That could be Gabriel Jesus, or another winger such as Anthony Gordon or Karim Adeyemi converted, like Raphinha, into a central striker role.

With 14 goals so far in 2026/2027, which have fired Barca to the top of La Liga and five points clear, Rapha is once more an “untouchable” who can’t be dropped in usual circumstances.

There’s his history and physical condition to consider, however, as well as the gauntlet of big games FC Barcelona has coming up including tough away trips to Galatasaray and PSG in the Champions League, in addition to a Clasico with Real Madrid at home.
