Guy Ritchie’s hit crime drama MobLand, starring Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan, is being greeted with unanimous praise upon the series’ return for a second season.

Created by Ritchie and Ronan Bennett, MobLand debuted in March 2025. The series follows the plight of the crime family heads Conrad and Maeve Harrigan (Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren), as well as their loyal fixer, Harry Da Souza (Hardy), as a war plays out in London with the powerful Stevenson gang.

The new season of MobLand finds the Harrigan family struggling to establish a unified front as rival gangs on the rise begin to threaten their existence. As the violence intensifies, loyalties begin to snap within the family. As Tommy bluntly informs Conrad and Maeve in the Season 2 trailer, “This family is in a death spiral.”

The series also stars Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, Jasmine Jobson, Teddie Allen, Emmett J. Scanlan, Johnny Flynn, Ophelia Lovibond, Janet McTeer and Toby Jones.

MobLand Season 2 premieres with Episode 1 on Friday on Paramount+. Like Season 1, Season 2 consists of 10 episodes, with new episodes premiering weekly at 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT.

As of Friday, MobLand Season 2 has earned a 100% “fresh” critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer, based on six reviews.

Tom Percival of Metro UK is among the critics on RT awarding the new season of the crime drama a “fresh” score, writing, “MobLand might not be the most novel TV show ever, but what it lacks in originality it makes up for with eccentric characters, a gripping plot and a splash of violence every now and then to liven things up.”

In his “fresh” take of the new season on RT, Greg MacArthur of Screen Rant notes, “While not quite on the level of true masterpieces like The Sopranos, Peaky Blinders, and The Wire, consider MobLand season 2 a promising leap towards that hallowed ground.”

Therese Lacson of Collider also praises MobLand Season 2, writing in her RT review summary, “It’s a clear evolution and maturation, showing that Ritchie is so much more than a one-trick pony and proving that there’s still so much more that the auteur can offer.”

By contrast, MobLand Season 1 received a 77% “fresh” critics’ score on RT based on 44 reviews, while audiences gave it a 67% “fresh” score on the site’s Popcornmeter. RT’s Critics Consensus, Audience Summary and Popcornmeter score based on verified user ratings are still pending.
