LUX Property Group Invited to Advance Landmark Eco Resort and Convention Centre Proposal for Indonesia’s New Capital, Nusantara

By Newsdesk

Indonesia’s new capital city, Nusantara (IKN), has taken another step towards attracting international private investment, with the Nusantara Capital Authority (Otorita Ibu Kota Nusantara) formally inviting LUX Property Group to progress its proposed landmark hospitality and tourism development through the government’s official investment platform.

The invitation follows the submission of a formal Letter of Intent by LUX Property Group, outlining plans to develop an integrated eco resort, lifestyle precinct and convention centre within Nusantara, the ambitious new capital being developed in East Kalimantan.

In correspondence from the Investor Relations Unit of the Nusantara Capital Authority, LUX Property Group was invited to upload the required corporate and administrative documentation through the Government’s official Investara investment portal so the proposal can proceed through its formal assessment process.

The invitation represents another milestone in what could become one of the first significant international hospitality and tourism proposals submitted for consideration within Indonesia’s new capital.

A Vision Beyond a Traditional Hotel

The proposal, developed by Jamie McIntyre, Founder of LUX Property Group and Chief Editor of the Australian National Review, extends well beyond a conventional hotel development.

Instead, it envisages the creation of a destination precinct designed to help position Nusantara as not only Indonesia’s administrative capital, but also a city attractive to international visitors, business travellers, digital entrepreneurs, expatriates and global conferences.

The proposed Stage One development would comprise approximately five hectares, including:

* A premium eco resort hotel.
* Approximately 100 luxury villas.
* Restaurants, cafés and lifestyle retail.
* Wellness facilities including spa, fitness and nature experiences.
* Extensive landscaped tropical gardens.
* A crystal-clear, man-made beach lagoon inspired by Brisbane’s famous South Bank Parklands.
* A convention and exhibition centre capable of hosting government events, international conferences, trade expos and corporate gatherings.

Future expansion would potentially double the project’s footprint through an additional five hectares of adjoining land.

Creating a Tourism and Lifestyle Destination

McIntyre believes Nusantara has the potential to become far more than simply Indonesia’s seat of government.

Following his recent visit to the city, he described Nusantara as one of the world’s most impressive master-planned developments and said its combination of modern infrastructure, abundant green space and long-term planning provides a unique opportunity to build a globally recognised lifestyle destination.

The proposed beach lagoon would provide residents and visitors with a recreational attraction inspired by Brisbane’s South Bank, while adapting the concept to Indonesia’s tropical environment through sustainable landscaping, hospitality and wellness experiences.

Combined with hotels, villas and supporting retail, the precinct aims to create a vibrant destination where government delegates, business travellers, tourists and expatriates can all enjoy a world-class lifestyle environment.

Convention Centre to Support Business Tourism

A key element of the proposal is the development of an integrated convention and exhibition centre.

LUX Property Group believes conference tourism will become an increasingly important component of Nusantara’s economy as government ministries relocate and international organisations begin holding meetings within the new capital.

The proposed facility could host:

* Government conferences.
* ASEAN meetings.
* International business forums.
* Technology and innovation summits.
* Sustainability conferences.
* Medical congresses.
* Trade exhibitions.
* Cultural festivals.
* Corporate events.

LUX has also indicated it is open to partnering with Indonesian companies or government entities should a broader public-private partnership be considered.

Supporting Indonesia’s Long-Term Vision

The proposal aligns with Indonesia’s broader objective of transforming Nusantara into a modern, sustainable and internationally competitive capital city.

Rather than focusing solely on government infrastructure, LUX Property Group believes world-class hospitality, tourism and conference facilities will help create a vibrant city that attracts investment, talent and international visitors throughout the year.

The company believes high-quality accommodation, wellness experiences and public recreational facilities will play an important role in making Nusantara an attractive destination not only for civil servants, but also for global business leaders, investors, entrepreneurs, digital professionals and expatriates seeking opportunities in Indonesia.

LUX Property Group has established itself as an emerging Indonesian-based international property developer focused on hospitality, lifestyle and master-planned communities. The company is currently delivering multiple projects across Bali and Lombok, including hotels, wellness resorts, luxury villa communities and the master-planned Nesara Bay City development in South Lombok, with a focus on sustainable tourism, long-term investment and destination creation.

Founder Jamie McIntyre, who also serves as Chief Editor of the Australian National Review, has been a vocal supporter of Nusantara following his recent visit to Indonesia’s future capital. Through both his media platform and LUX Property Group, he has advocated for greater international awareness of the city, describing it as one of Southeast Asia’s most exciting long-term development opportunities and encouraging greater foreign investment into Indonesia.

The proposed integrated eco resort, convention centre and lifestyle precinct reflects that vision. Inspired in part by Brisbane’s iconic South Bank, the development would feature a premium eco resort hotel, luxury villas, wellness facilities, restaurants, landscaped gardens and a signature crystal-clear man-made beach lagoon, alongside a convention and exhibition centre designed to attract government meetings, international conferences, technology events, trade exhibitions and business tourism.

LUX believes the project could help position Nusantara not only as Indonesia’s political and administrative capital, but also as a destination for international conferences, tourism, investment, digital entrepreneurs and expatriates seeking a modern, sustainable city in the heart of Southeast Asia.

As the Nusantara Capital Authority progresses its formal assessment process following its invitation for LUX Property Group to submit the next stage of documentation through the Government’s official investment portal, discussions are expected to continue regarding suitable development sites and potential investment structures.

If ultimately approved, the project could become one of Nusantara’s flagship hospitality and tourism developments, helping showcase Indonesia’s new capital to the world while supporting the Government’s long-term vision of creating one of the world’s most innovative, sustainable and liveable capital cities.
