Lando Norris is a self-proclaimed golf addict, with the game having even taking him down Magnolia Lane when the Formula 1 driver was away from the track. Soon, Norris might have high-performance golf equipment that matches what McLaren has provided him in the world of supercar engineering.
The automotive company is venturing into the world of golf clubs with the launch of McLaren Golf, with a full launch of its new product line set for April 29.
While it’s an endeavor that might not seem intuitive at first blush, McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown says taking the company’s high-end engineering standards “from the grid to the golf course feels like a natural step, and one that opens the McLaren brand to a new audience.”

McLaren, which has decades of experience in elite motorsport and supercar engineering, said it has assembled a team of golf-industry experts and leading engineering minds to “push the boundaries of equipment design and manufacturing” in order to unlock new levels of precision and performance when it comes to golf clubs. Both are buzzy words when it comes to golfers and their clubs.
“We’re building a brand grounded in McLaren’s high-performance DNA, and embedding it in a new sporting arena,” said McLaren Golf CEO Neil Howie, who spent almost three decades with Callaway Golf in Europe before retiring as Managing Director and President in December 2024.
The company hasn’t yet provided specific details about what its initial product launch will entail — whether that includes irons, metalwoods, wedges and more – but McLaren Automotive CEO Nick Collins said this venture aligns with the brand’s philosophy of turning technical excellence into extraordinary experiences.
“We’re creating equipment that is beautifully engineered, meticulously refined and unmistakably McLaren,” Collins said.
It’s worth at least mentioning that Bridgestone is one of the world’s largest tire manufacturers as well as an industry leader in premium golf balls, leveraging its engineering expertise in both polymer science and golf equipment innovation.
On the other side of the coin, Bentley Motors a decade ago also sought to venture into the golf equipment space after research revealed that more than 70% of Bentley car owners play golf.

As for Norris, who won the Formula One World Drivers’ Championship with McLaren in 2025 and is the team’s most experienced driver, he was introduced to golf in 2019 by former teammate Carlos Sainz. While playing in high-profile golf events – including the 2023 Netflix Cup that paired F1 drivers with professional golfers – Norris has been vocal about his passion for the game and how it helps him relax away from the paddock.
With the latest news, the next time Norris tees it up in a celebrity Pro-Am event or other competition, he just might be playing with McLaren golf equipment.
