Olivia Rodrigo’s new album You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love is only a few months old, and it’s still performing well in the superstar’s home country. The singer-songwriter dropped her third full-length in mid-June, and by that point, the set had already produced two huge singles in “Drop Dead” and “The Cure.”
“Stupid Song” was chosen as the third official promotional cut from You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love on the day the album became available worldwide. This week, that track debuts on multiple Billboard charts, helping the Grammy winner reach the same milestone on two lists simultaneously.
Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Stupid Song’ Debuts on Two Radio Charts
“Stupid Song” debuts on a pair of Billboard rankings this week, both of which focus on radio spins. The single opens at No. 37 on the Adult Pop Airplay chart, one of several tallies that monitor different subgenres of pop radio in the United States. At the same time, “Stupid Song” launches at No. 46 on the broader Radio Songs ranking, which measures audience impressions across radio formats throughout the country.
Olivia Rodrigo Scores Her Tenth Hit on Both Charts
On both the Radio Songs and Adult Pop Airplay charts, “Stupid Song” marks Rodrigo’s milestone tenth career hit. Coincidentally, the same 10 tunes have appeared on the two rankings throughout her career.
Olivia Rodrigo Claims Multiple Radio No. 1s
Half of Rodrigo’s 10 Radio Songs hits have broken into the top 10. She has earned one additional top 10 smash on the Adult Pop Airplay ranking, giving her six appearances inside the highest tier on that more specific rundown.
Rodrigo claims a pair of No. 1s on both lists, and she’s seen the same two tunes lead the charge. “Drivers License,” which helped turn her into a superstar more than half a decade ago, and “Good 4 U” took turns leading the charge in 2021.
Olivia Rodrigo’s Single Reaches a New Pop Airplay Peak
“Stupid Song” is also on the rise on the Pop Airplay chart. Five weeks into its run, the single jumps from No. 23 to No. 18, establishing a new peak. Even with its latest improvement, “Stupid Song” remains Rodrigo’s lowest-peaking track on the ranking. It is also only her second hit to miss the top 10 – so far – joining “Bad Idea Right?” That single stalled just outside the region, at No. 11.
Olivia Rodrigo’s “Stupid Song” Is Mostly on the Decline
Outside of the two radio charts where it debuts and the Pop Airplay ranking where it reaches a new high, “Stupid Song” is largely on the downswing this week. The single declines on the Billboard Hot 100, Streaming Songs chart, the Billboard Global 200 and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. Even as it falls, though, “Stupid Song” holds inside the top 20 on all of those tallies, and it’s even a top 10 win on several of them.
Olivia Rodrigo Continues to Chart Nearly Her Entire Album
11 of the 13 songs featured on You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love appear on Billboard charts in the U.S. this week. “Stupid Song” is the only track from the album that either debuts on a ranking or climbs to a new high point. “Drop Dead” holds at its all-time peak on multiple radio rosters, while several other fan favorites, including “The Cure,” “Honeybee,” “Expectations” and “Maggots for Brains,” continue to live on multiple tallies as well thanks to strong streams.
