Tame Impala landed the biggest hit of its career – and a surprise worldwide win – with “Dracula.” The track is featured on the outfit’s latest album, Deadbeat, which was released last fall. The tune was originally a solo venture, but when Blackpink singer Jennie joined the fray, it became a global smash.
For months now, the “Dracula” remix has dominated multiple genre-specific Billboard charts and brought both Tame Impala and Jennie to new career highs on various tallies. “Loser” was selected as the second single from Deadbeat, and it was actually released weeks before “Dracula,” though it did not manage to become a smash until recently.
In the past month or so, the single has suddenly become hugely popular after it was featured in the new film Spider-Man: Brand New Day. All of that newfound attention has turned “Loser” into a huge win in America and nearly a No. 1 on several rosters… if only another Tame Impala tune wasn’t keeping it from the summit.
Tame Impala Nearly Replaces Itself at No. 1
“Loser” rises to No. 2 on three Billboard charts – the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs, Hot Rock Songs and Hot Alternative Songs rankings – this week, reaching a new peak on all of them simultaneously. In each case, Tame Impala blocks itself from another leader, as “Dracula” holds at No. 1. “Loser” also remains at its No. 2 high point on both the Alternative Streaming Songs and Rock Streaming Songs rankings.
“Loser” Reaches More New Top 10 Peaks
“Loser” climbs to new all-time highs on several additional Billboard charts this frame, though it has yet to lift to second place (or higher). The single advances to No. 3 on both the Billboard Global 200 and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. at the same time, while rising to No. 8 on the Streaming Songs ranking.
Tame Impala’s “Loser” Climbs on Three Additional Charts
The Deadbeat single also soars higher than ever – but remains outside the top 10 – on three additional rankings. “Loser” jumps to No. 18 on the Billboard Hot 100, steps up to No. 16 on the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart and surges to No. 18 on the Alternative Airplay roster. The latter two gains are especially dramatic, as the tune advances from Nos. 29 and 31, respectively.
Tame Impala Debuts a New Hit on Two Pop Radio Charts
“Loser” debuts on two more Billboard tallies this week, and it brings Tame Impala back to the pop radio world. The single opens at No. 35 on the Adult Pop Airplay chart and No. 37 on the Pop Airplay tally. “Loser” becomes the project’s third career placement on both rundowns as it arrives.
“Dracula” Still Rules Several Billboard Tallies
As “Loser” grows in popularity, “Dracula” remains a No. 1 hit on an impressive number of Billboard charts. The Jennie collaboration holds at the summit of the Adult Pop Airplay, Hot Rock & Alternative Songs, Hot Rock Songs, Hot Alternative Songs, Hot Dance/Electronic Songs and Dance Streaming Songs rankings.
It does cede its control over the Pop Airplay chart this week, where it dips from No. 1 to No. 2. At the same time, the song holds at its all-time high of No. 16 on the Adult Contemporary roster, the third of the three pop radio tallies published by Billboard each week.
