After making new sales history for Japanese artists by earning one-million-plus in album sales in both Korea and Japan, &TEAM proves their selling power was no fluke with another massive haul for their latest EP.
According to South Korea’s real-time sales chart Hanteo, the boy band’s We on Fire sold over one million copies worldwide upon its release on April 21. In a week’s time, the EP also sold nearly 1.24 million copies worldwide, surpassing &TEAM’s previous first-week sales record of 1.22 million set by the breakaway success of their debut Korean EP, Back to Life, released last October.
Thanks to strong sales in both Japan and Korea, the HYBE group had already distinguished itself as the first Japanese artist to achieve million-seller status on both the Korean and Japanese charts, with We on Fire further demonstrating their global resonance.
True to their current bilingual approach, We on Fire includes four new Japanese songs as well as Korean versions of the new title track single and new cut “Bewitched.” The EP leans into the ninesome’s knack for racing pop tracks with heavy electronic and rock inspirations. “We on Fire” opens with a blitz of synthesizers that mix into trap beats, heavy sub-bass and electronica flourishes throughout the encouragement anthem. “Bewitched” allows &TEAM to rock out on a full-fledged pop-punk track that wouldn’t sound out of place in an Imagine Dragons concert, while “HOTLINE” opts to blend 8-bit chiptune with rock production. The EP is rounded out by the previously released ballad track “Sakura-iro Yell,” marked by dreamy jazz and modern pop elements and featuring piano, string, and flute melodies.
During an internationally focused press conference for We on Fire, &TEAM emphasized the growing success is giving them ambition and hope to not only expand the countries where they can perform but also the languages in which they record their music.
“Based on 2025, we discovered there are a lot of places we would like to reach out,” Fuma, the group’s sub-leader, shared during a Q&A session. Yuma added, “We held the Asian tour and there are many countries and locations we have not been able to visit — we would like to appear on the overseas programs as well.”
Maki, &TEAM’s youngest member, also shared how “another big goal is to one day release some English songs that we can perform in front of our global fans. And hopefully one day we can chart in the Billboard Hot 100, so I hope everyone stays excited until that day.”
With &TEAM set to make their way to the U.S. for their first performances as part of the 2026 KCON lineup this August, their increasingly international ambitions are quickly coming into focus following We on Fire.
