News and Noteworthy ahead of the Event
Here’s a quick recap of notable news items of import to the tour or this event:
- 9/22/26, The APP announces the APP Moneyball Series. APP Moneyball Series is a new competitive series for current and aspiring professional
pickleball players, offering high-level local competition, prize money, APP Tour ranking points, and a pathway to national and global events. - Coming soon: while not ready for publication for this recap, the APP will soon be announcing some major 2027 schedule updates.
With that said, let’s recap the action.
Men’s Pro Singles Recap
Tristan Dussault has gone from winning singles gold in APP Next in August to a full-tier singles gold last weekend.
APP
As the APP settles into its fall schedule, it continues to have ex-pats from its rival tour making waves in the draws. Jay Devilliers, seeded 24th, upset the 8th and 9th seeds before falling to No. 1 Ronan Camron in the quarters. No. 26. Quang Duong took out the 7th seed early before falling to Izarray in the 16s. No. 30 Ryan Fu fell in the 32s at the hands of No. 3 Ryler DeHeart.
After early round tumult, we ended up with familiar names in the semis. Last event’s silver medalist Tristan Dussault took out the top seeded Camron in the semis, then finished off his first singles gold medal with a come-back 3 game win over Dusty Boyer.
Gold: Tristan Dussault. Silver: Dusty Boyer. Bronze: Ronan Camron.
Women’s Pro Singles Recap
Thanks to the tour’s two top ranked singles players missing the event, current No. 3 ranked Domenika Turkovic got the draw’s top seed and did not waste the opportunity. She outlasted No. 8 Jada Bui in the quarters in a 3 game shootout, No. 5 Amber Policare in the semis 12-10 in the third, then beat surprise finalist Jessica (Warren) Evanier in two games to secure her first ever APP gold medal. It was recently married Evanier’s first medal in a year and her first final in nearly two years on tour.
Gold: Domenika Turkovic. Silver: Jessica Evanier. Bronze: Amber Policare.
Mixed Pro Doubles Recap
Jack Munro is quietly working his way up the career medal leaderboard on tour, winning two more golds this weekend.
APP
It had been a bit since the veteran Jill Braverman teamed up with the ambidextrous Jack Munro to compete in an APP mixed draw. Four months to be exact, when the pair took gold at the Vlasic Classic. They teamed again, a bit up I-71 from their June partnership in Cincinnati earlier this year and won gold again as the No. 2 seeds. They toppled the top seeds Megan Fudge & Aiden Schenk for the gold, giving Jack the APP double-double for the weekend.
Gold: Braverman & Munro. Silver: Fudge & Schenk. Bronze: Wheatley & Livornese.
Men’s Pro Doubles Recap
Jay Devilliers may be struggling to get to Sunday in singles upon his return to the APP, but he is picking right back up where he left off in Doubles. Paired once again with Jersey native Tanner Tomassi, the duo beat both the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds in successive rounds to find themselves in the final, Jay’s first APP final since January 2022. There, they ran into the dominant No. 1 pair of Jack Munro & Richard Livornese Jr, winners of the last five APP Men’s Doubles tournaments in a row. In the end, Munro & Livornese made it six on the trot with a 7,7 win, but Devilliers back on the podium is great to see.
Gold: Munro & Livornese. Silver: Devilliers & Tomassi. Bronze: Duong & Schenk.
Women’s Pro Doubles Recap
The top seeds Fudge & Hendry were toppled early, shocked by the 8th seeds Arielle Butler & Alexa Quintanilla, opening the way for fresh faces on the podium. It was the Detroit Open champs Shelby Bates & Christine Maddox that took advantage, who ground their way through three straight grueling three-game matches to come out on top in the final. They toppled the 4th seeds Glauka Carvajal Lane & Domenika Turkovic in the final.
Gold: Bates & Maddox. Silver: Turkovic & Lane. Bronze: Schmidt & Braverman.
AARP Champions Pro Competition Quick Recap
Note: there was just a 50+ competition for Senior Pros this weekend: no Masters 60+ or 65+ divisions.
- Men’s Champions Pro Singles: No. 1 Youssef Bouzidi trounced No. 2 Jardim 5,0 to extend his lead atop the standings.
- Women’s Champions Pro Singles: Carolina Lopez Ascarate made a statement with a double-pickle win over Whitwell in the semis, but No. 1 Karin Ptaszek-Kochis continued her dominance on tour with a final win.
- Men’s Champions Pro Doubles: Marcello Jardim & Jamie Oncins paired to win another pro doubles title.
- Women’s Champions Pro Doubles: Carolina Lopez Ascarate teamed up with Andrea Olson with just a few minutes notice and ended up taking the event as the No. 3 seeds.
- Mixed Champions Pro Doubles: Lee Whitwell & Jamie Oncins took the mixed final 11-8 in the third over Jardim & Ascarate.

Next up on the Pickleball Calendar? According to my Master Pickleball Schedule, next up for the APP will be the 2026 Louisville Open in two week’s time. This will be the first time the tour has gone anywhere in Kentucky, and hopefully the tour players get in some Bourbon visits while in town.
